Chess Tournament



The public is invited to register and compete in the UW-BC Chess Tournament that will be held on Thursday, April 24 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.  

The Chess Club at the University of Wisconsin-Barron County is hosting the tournament which will be conducted in a round-robin format. Participants will meet in and play in The Commons. Each participant will play five games against five different players.  A win is scored as one point, a draw is scored as ½ point, and a loss is scored as zero points.  The players with the top four scores are awarded prizes.  For prize allocation, ties will be broken by the following procedures: (1) giving preference to a player with a head-to-head victory, (2) giving preference to a player with the most total wins, and (3) conducting a coin toss.  In each game, each player will have a maximum of 15 minutes of playing time.

Registration is free and open to the public.  First prize is an Ambassador decorative chess set and a UW-BC hooded sweatshirt, second prize is a heavy-duty club chess set (with carrying bag) and a UW-BC sweatshirt, third prize is a magnetic wooden travel chess game and a UW-BC long-sleeve T-shirt, and fourth prize is an analysis size plastic chess set and a UW-BC T-shirt.  Refreshments will be provided for all participants.
