Circulation
Desk
The circulation desk is located to the left as you enter the library.
Here you can check materials out or in, pay fees and fines, and purchase transparencies. You can also
receive information about all library services.
The Reserve Collection is also located behind the circulation desk.
This collection includes books, articles and/or audio and video tapes
for short-tem reading or viewing as assigned by faculty. Since many
students need to access a limited number of copies or materials, checkout
periods vary.
Catalog
The library catalog is an online catalog. There are two computer workstations
for performing catalog searches located near the circulation desk. These
computers are also available for online
searches or for connecting to the
UW
Colleges Library Catalog.
Loan
Periods
- Books – four weeks and are renewable
- Reference Materials – non-circulating
- Reserve Materials - varies from two hours in
house use only up to one week loans
- Unbound Periodicals – non-circulating
- VHS Tapes – two weeks
Fines
Renewals are generally permitted and encouraged as necessary. If materials
are late, however, the fine varies based on the type of material and
circulation period. You can avoid fines by returning materials before
they become overdue. Patrons could also be charged for excessive and/or
deliberate damage to library materials. Certain services (including
Interlibrary Loans) are not available to a patron with outstanding fines.
Inter-Library Loans
Students, staff, and faculty of UW-Barron County have access to all
libraries in the state of Wisconsin and, indeed, in the nation through
interlibrary loan. If we do not own the material you need, chances are
that we can obtain it for you by borrowing it from another library.
Materials inside the University of Wisconsin
System Libraries can be ordered via Universal Borrowing (for materials
found at the 4 year campuses) or Call Slips (from materials at the other
2 years).
Books or copies of periodical articles can be ordered
from libraries outside the University of Wisconsin System by clicking on
the hyperlink to
ILLIAD and filling out
the online form there.
Users should enter
their campus ID # as the login and their last name (in lower case) as
the password. You may use the menu options to track the status of
your requests which are available at the library circulation desk.
Audiovisual
material may also be ordered if owned by another two-year college. Please
allow approximately seven business days for your request to be filled,
although materials usually are received within a shorter time period.
The loan period is set by the lending library. Most loaned materials
can be obtained at no cost, however, there are times when a fee may
have to be assessed.
