The UW-BC drama department presents four 'Best of Broadway' productions a year including dramas, children theatre, comedies, musicals and operas.

All students are encouraged to audition for roles and/or work on the technical aspects of campus productions.  No prior experience in theatre is necessary.  You can also participate in theatre activities through a credit course or as a volunteer.  Terry Wiesner is the UW-BC theatre director.

Dear Theatre Patrons!

It seems almost unbelievable that this University has been going strong for 40 years.  For alumni, such as myself, the rich history of the Fine Arts program offered to area audiences clearly indicate the strong focus of campus staff, students and community in the pursuit of the best possible artistic experiences for all involved.

This dedication to an educated effort of providing classroom, performance and entertainment is something that we strive for everyday.  Whether it is in the art room, music room or onstage, the Fine Arts presentations are second to none.

We continue the concept of providing all students with the experience that they may never get in a larger university environment.  Because we are small we operate much like a large family.  Those students taking a music course may also be in an art or theatre course as well.  And the theatre is an area that allowed all of these various artistic forms to come together to create something memorable and long lasting.  Many former students come back to participate as performers as well as regular audience members.  It is very gratifying to reconnect with all of the history of this fine theatre program.

We again thank you for your past support by offering you the chance to participate as a regular season ticket holder of our upcoming 2007 - 2008 Best of Broadway theatre series.  We have an exciting and varied season planned for your enjoyment.  We ask that you please help to keep this vital theatre tradition going.  You will be providing the necessary support that is often so desperately needed for us to continue the tradition another 40 years.

Have a great year and enjoy the show!

Terry Wiesner, UW-BC Drama Director

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
A Musical
Thursday-Saturday, October 25-27, 7:30 p.m.
Beyond the classical value of this well-known story is intermingled a gay, entertaining quality, catchy tunes, a cast of hearty/sentimental folks, and the settings of a harvest festival and a wedding.  This is the famous tale of Ichabod Crane the new school teacher in Sleepy Hollow. . .a man with a ceaseless appetite for good food - when he can get it free.  At the Harvest Festival he enchants Katrina with his poetry and dancing, they fall in love, and a marriage contract is set.  As the hour of the ceremony approaches, Katrina realizes she is in love with another man.  As Ichabod arrives for the rites, there's a burst of lightning, thunder and general confusion.  The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow appears and Ichabod disappears, never to return to Sleepy Hollow again.

Sorry!  Wrong Chimney!
A Holiday Farce
Thursday - Saturday, December 6-8, 7:30 p.m.

David Tuttle is moonlighting as a department store Santa so that he can buy his wife a fur for Christmas.  He tells her he's working late at the office but she finds out he isn't at the office.  Put in the mix the suspected other woman, hypnotism, the notorious Santa-burglar Kris Kreigle and his gun-toting fiancée, along with a confused policeman.  All adds up to a rollicking tale that is hilarious holiday entertainment for the whole family.

Don't Hug Me!
Musical Comedy
Thursday - Saturday, March 6-8, 7:30 p.m.

It's like Fargo meets The Music Man.  The play takes place in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota.  It's the coldest day of the year and cantankerous bar owner Gunner Johnson wants to sell out and move to Florida.  Clara, his wife and former Winter Carnival Bunyan Queen, wants to stay.  The pretty waitress wants to pursue a singing career and her fiancé wants her to stay home.  It's a battle of wills.  When a fast-talking salesman promises to bring romance into their lives through the 'magic' of karaoke, all heck breaks loose!  Featured songs include:
"I'm a Walleye Woman in a Crappie Town"
"I Wanna Go to the Mall of America"
"My Smorgasbord of Love"

Snow White
Children's Classic
Friday - Saturday, May 2-3, 7:30 p.m.
"Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"  We all know the reply to that, and soon we're caught up in the spell of this enchanting classic.  The vain and wicked Queen seeks to destroy her rival in beauty.  The dwarves are obstinate, generous, mean, kind, and totally appealing.  The Prince is a true Prince, sometimes foolish, always brave, and Snow White is as lovely and lovable as the legend says.
