I teach an interesting and wide variety of courses on the UW-BC campus, including microbiology, botany, and environmental biology. My current research interests focus on the symbiotic association of nitrogen fixing bacteria with certain species of woodland herbs, and I am fortunate that there continue to be students interested and involved in this research via independent study courses. Outside of campus I serve on the Board of Directors of the Hunt Hill Nature Sanctuary in Sarona, Wisconsin and I have worked with the UW-Extension in the design and construction of local rain gardens (gardens meant to facilitate the infiltration and thereby impede the runoff of rain water). I am married and have three children, two dogs, and two cats, all of whom enjoy living in northern Wisconsin.
