Observatory Sessions

Come see the planets, the moon, star clusters and far away galaxies! The campus astronomical observatory holds free viewing sessions for the public throughout the school year. People are invited to meet in Room 228 Ritzinger Hall to see presentations on an astronomical topic, then proceed to the observatory. Participants can then gaze through the 14-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and view the current celestial objects in the night sky.

Skywatchers are encouraged to bring binoculars and are reminded that the observatory is not heated, so dress accordingly!

Observatory director is 'Starguy' Greg Furtman, host of the WOJB-FM Looking Up astronomy radio program which airs at 8:10 a.m. on Friday mornings on WOJB 88.9 FM.
