Community Education

Master of Science in Education in Professional Development

Earn your Master of Science in Education degree in Professional Development close to home and in just 20 weekends. Join the only masters program in partnership with your local university. You will work and share with other professionals to improve teaching and leadership skills. This program is designed for K-12 educators; higher education, technical school instructors; anyone interested in developing teaching and leadership skills and who seeks to experience the power and excitement of a learning community.

Your community will meet on the UW-Barron County campus in Rice Lake. Students complete 7 – 8 credits over five weekends each fall and spring term. Classes are not held during the summer, unless the group desires an accelerated program.

The shared inquiry process is a learning method in which students search for answers to fundamental questions raised by a text, lecture, or experience. Participants of shared inquiry communities learn to give full consideration to the ideas of others, promoting thoughtful dialogue and open debate.

We started our second group in January 2009! Join us for the Spring 2011 start.
