Application Process

We’re glad that you are thinking about applying for admission
to UW-Barron County. Information in this section will help lead you
through all the requirements and steps for enrolling as a student. Our
Student Services staff will gladly help with any questions you may have,
so please give us a call at 715-234-8024 or email us at uwbcinfo@uwc.edu.
How
to Apply & Applying Online
To be considered for admission, you must submit a University of Wisconsin
System Application for Undergraduate Admission. You can obtain this
application form from a high school guidance office or from UW-BC. The
completed form and any required materials should be sent to UW-Barron
County Office of Student Services at 1800 College Drive, Rice Lake,
Wisconsin 54868.
If you prefer to apply online you can use the UW System Electronic Application
for Undergraduate Admission on the web at www.apply.wisconsin.edu/.
A $35 fee must accompany the application of prospective freshmen and
transfer students. Special students are exempt from paying
the application fee unless they become degree candidates.
Applications are accepted after September 15 for the following fall
or spring semester or summer term.
High school students are encouraged to apply early in their senior year.
Early applicants have an advantage in obtaining academic counseling,
financial aid and their preferred schedule of courses.
Transcripts
If you are a high school student: Submit your completed application
and the $35 fee to your high school guidance office. Your counselor
will see that your transcript is sent to us. A final transcript will
be required after graduation.
If you are a high school graduate: Contact your high school and
have your final transcript forwarded to us; it should be sent directly
from the school.
If you attended other colleges/universities: Submit your final
high school transcript along with a transcript from any other post-secondary
schools. Contact the Registrar’s Office at former institutions;
normally the request must be written and may require a small fee.
Individuals who have completed or are completing the GED or HSED will
need to provide official scores from the institution that administered
the testing.
ACT
or SAT
Take either the ACT or SAT and include UW-Barron County as one of the
institutions to receive score reports. This is a required part of the
admission process for new freshmen. Persons who are 21 years old and
older will have this requirement waived. These tests are given at most
high schools on special dates and must be registered for well in advance.
Students are notified of an admission decision once all of the above
items have been received.
