UW-BC/WITC AAS Transfer Degree Option
The University of Wisconsin Colleges Associate of
Arts and Science (AAS) degree will now be offered at all WITC campuses
beginning January 2006. This alliance sets a model partnership
into motion, opening up a new opportunity for residents of NW Wisconsin
to start a two-year UW AAS degree at the WITC campuses in New Richmond,
Superior, Ashland, Ladysmith, Hayward, and Rice Lake. The common
purpose is to expand higher education options for students in the most
rural and remote regions of the state who previously had to commute as
much as 120 miles one-way to attend classes at UW-BC in Rice Lake.
The ultimate goal is to increase the number of bachelor’s degree holders
in the state - a major goal of the governor and legislature.
